Why Proper Identification Matters
Miami has multiple cockroach species, and the treatment approach differs significantly by species. The two most common — German cockroaches and American cockroaches — require opposite treatment strategies. Applying exterior perimeter treatment to a German cockroach problem inside your kitchen does nothing. Applying interior gel bait to an American cockroach entry problem misses the actual entry route. Many failed treatments result from this species-treatment mismatch.
What Our Inspection Covers
We examine cockroaches, droppings, egg cases, and behavior to determine the species present. Miami's most common species: German cockroach, American cockroach, Smoky brown cockroach, and Australian cockroach.
For German cockroaches: we use flashlights and inspection mirrors to locate all harborage areas — behind appliances, inside cabinet hinges, in electrical panels, and plumbing voids. Flushing agents may be used to reveal hidden populations.
Light (occasional sightings, minimal droppings), moderate (regular sightings, droppings in multiple areas, egg cases found), or heavy (daytime sightings, strong odor, droppings covering surfaces). Infestation level determines treatment intensity and follow-up schedule.
For American cockroaches and other exterior species: identification of all structural entry points — pipe penetrations, floor drains, weep holes, door gaps — that are allowing entry.
A clear written plan specifying species, infestation level, treatment method, product category, follow-up schedule, and any sanitation or structural recommendations to support treatment success.
