Miami's Mosquito Problem
Miami-Dade has one of the most significant mosquito pressures in the continental United States. The primary species — Aedes aegypti — is a day-biting mosquito that is the vector for dengue fever, Zika virus, chikungunya, and yellow fever. Unlike Culex mosquitoes that breed in ponds and drainage ditches, Aedes aegypti breed in tiny containers: plant saucers, bottle caps, clogged gutters, birdbaths, tarps, and any vessel holding even a tablespoon of stagnant water.
Miami's year-round warmth, abundant rainfall, and lush landscaping create ideal breeding conditions throughout the year — not just during the summer rainy season.
Yard Treatment Process
We identify and document all standing water sources on the property — the breeding sites that sustain the mosquito population. Clients receive recommendations for eliminating or treating each source.
Residual insecticide is applied to all vegetation, shrubs, ornamental plants, tree canopies at reachable height, and shaded resting areas in the yard. Mosquitoes rest in cool vegetation during the day — the barrier spray kills them on contact and provides 21–30 days of residual kill.
BTi (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) granules or dunks are applied to all standing water sources that cannot be emptied: ponds, birdbaths, drainage areas, and irrigation sumps. BTi kills mosquito larvae before they develop into adults without harming aquatic life, wildlife, or pets.
Barrier spray residual breaks down within 21–30 days from rain, heat, and UV. Monthly recurring service maintains continuous suppression through Miami's year-round mosquito season.
